At this time of year new or good 2nd-hand tennis balls are sometimes available from Sports Clubs, Schools, Fetes, Car Boots etc. and we need quite a lot to replace the ones our dogs destroy!  Please get any you can. Luce will reimburse you for up to £6/doz (50p each) .

So What is Flyball?
Flyball is a team "knockout" relay race with four dogs and their owners in a team.  The object of the race is for each dog to run 56 feet jumping over 4 low hurdles, trigger a Flyball box, catch the ball and return back over the course to the start/finish line.  When the first dog returns the next dog is released and so on.  The race is won by the first team to get 4 dogs and 4 balls back without fault.
We train and compete under the rules of the British Flyball Association (BFA)  Flyball races offer fast-paced action with plenty of excitement for dogs, handlers, and especially spectators.  Many teams run all 4 dogs through the course in less than 21 seconds.  The North-American Flyball Association (NAFA) record is now under 16 seconds!

Can any dog do Flyball?
Yes, providing they are fit.  Dogs of any size, any breed and almost any age can do Flyball.  A Flyball dog is a happy, fit and contented dog.

So What is Cleverdogs?
Cleverdogs is a new sport which combines a short agility course with a flyball lane.  Two dogs and handlers run on two identical courses against each other.  Dogs must complete the agility section, using modified agility rules which require each item of equipment to be completed successfully (by repeating if necessary) and in the correct order, before attempting the flyball lane.  The heat is won by the first dog to successfully complete both sections and return over the start/finish line.
